In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the Lynchburg Museum is opening a new temporary exhibit about the D-Day Invasion of June 1944 and the local men who served in that pivotal campaign of World War II. Featured artifacts include four Purple Heart medals, a B-17 bomber pilot’s flight jacket, and a scrapbook of local servicemen donated by the Costas, Craighill, Moser, Moyer, Riley, and Ware families. “Service & Sacrifice: Lynchburg’s Sons, Husbands, and Fathers Who Fought on D-Day” will be on display through Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
