The Lynchburg Museum & Visitor Center depends on dedicated volunteers to help us welcome visitors and preserve the rich history of our city. Whether you love engaging with people, diving into local history, or supporting special events, volunteering here is a chance to make a real impact.

As the official Visitor Center for the City of Lynchburg, we are often the first stop for travelers. Volunteers play a key role in shaping that first impression, offering a warm welcome, answering questions, and pointing guests toward the best experiences our city has to offer.

By joining our team, you’ll:

• Share your knowledge of Lynchburg with visitors from around the world.
• Gain behind-the-scenes access to exhibits, programs, and events.
• Support our mission to preserve and interpret Lynchburg’s history.

Volunteers can serve in many ways, including but not limited to:

• Greeting visitors at the front desk and offering travel information.
• Assisting with school groups and educational tours.
• Supporting research, collections, and administrative projects.
• Helping with special events, programs, and community outreach.

Whether you have a few hours a month or several days a week, there’s a place for you here.

We welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds who share our passion for history and hospitality. Training is provided, so no prior museum experience is required — just a friendly attitude and a willingness to learn.
