As the only official Visitor Center in the City of Lynchburg, we’re more than a museum — we’re your first stop when discovering Lynchburg. Whether you are a resident seeking to connect more deeply with our past or a guest looking for restaurants, trails, and attractions, we’re here to help you make the most of your time in Lynchburg.
The Lynchburg Museum & Visitor Center exists to both preserve and share Lynchburg’s rich history and to serve as a welcoming gateway for visitors and newcomers to our city. We collect, interpret, and protect the stories, artifacts, and culture that define Lynchburg and the broader region. At the same time, we provide newcomers with the resources, guidance, and inspiration they need to explore everything our community has to offer.
How We Operate
The Lynchburg Museum System manages the official history museums and archives of the City of Lynchburg. It is a division of the City’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, working in partnership with the non-profit Lynchburg Museum Foundation.
