The Lynchburg Museum System is pleased to assist with questions regarding local history and our permanent collections.  There are also many online resources available for you to browse on our website under the “Learn” tab at the top of the page.

To ensure your request is tracked accurately and handled by the appropriate staff member, please complete the request form below.

  • Complimentary Service: Our staff and volunteers provide up to one hour of research at no charge.
  • Extended Projects: Requests requiring more than one hour of staff time may incur additional fees. In such cases, we will provide a fee estimate for your approval before proceeding.
  • Queue: Requests are processed in the order they are received.  *Priorities may be made for academic research deadlines with enough lead time. 
  • Processing Time: Due to the increased demands of public research requests, the current turnaround time is estimated at 6 months. 
  • Reading Room: In-person research is available upon request with a pre-scheduled appointment.
