The Quakers who founded Lynchburg believed that all people were equal before God. But their integrity was challenged by the slave economy surrounding them. Learn more about their lives, their faith, and their legacy in this casual, 60-minute guided walking tour of the South River Meeting House and Burial Ground.

Tours are free, but reservations are required. Call (434) 455–6226 or visit LynchburgMuseum.org/calendar to reserve your spot. Each tour is limited to 20 people.

Meet at Quaker Meeting House at 5810 Fort Avenue (Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church). Tour includes walking through grass and irregular terrain, so please wear comfortable walking shoes. Masks are encouraged. Free parking is available beside Meeting House and Burial Ground.

The graveyard next to the South River Meeting House is where city founder John Lynch and his family are at final rest.
