“Dunbar High School: A Pillar of Education and Community” Walking Tour

  • Dunbar Middle School 1200 Polk Street Lynchburg, VA, 24504 United States (map)

The campus of the former Dunbar High School represents how the desire for education has shaped African American communities both past and present. Join us as we take a casual, 60-minute guided walking tour of the campus and learn the history of Lynchburg's all-Black high school and the innovative middle school it is today. We will also dive into the life and legacy of the school’s namesake Paul Laurence Dunbar.

Tour Guide: Angelica Walker, NAI Certified Interpretive Guide
