During the American Civil War, in June of 1864, the city of Lynchburg became a primary objective for Union forces launching an offensive into the heart of the Confederacy. This tour will use diaries, letters, and photographs to provide a greater understanding of what soldiers on both sides experienced during the Campaign and Battle for Lynchburg. The personal stories of these soldiers of the past remind us that they, too, were very much human.
Tours are free, but reservations are required in advance. Call (434) 455–6226 or visit LynchburgMuseum.org/calendar to reserve your spot. Each tour is limited to 20 people. Tour includes walking through grass and irregular terrain, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.
