Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Julia Whiteley Branch and the History of Midwifery in Lynchburg, Virginia
The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the Lynchburg Museum’s new mini-exhibit celebrating Lynchburg midwife and baby nurse Julia Whiteley Branch. Learn about Branch’s remarkable career and the history of her fellow midwives in Lynchburg.
There will be brief remarks by two descendants of Julia Branch, Malikka Karteron and Rosemary McDaniel, as well as Katie Page, Certified Nurse-Midwife at Centra Medical Group Forest Women’s Center. The exhibit and reception are co-sponsored by the Lynchburg Museum System, National Black Midwives Alliance, Virginia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and Virginia Midwives Alliance.
This event is free and open to the public.
