The First Friday mini-exhibit “African American Women Social Clubs: Sororities” will be displayed at the Lynchburg Museum beginning on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. This exhibit is the second in a three-month series highlighting the ways African American women’s groups have contributed to their communities.
The exhibit will feature artifacts that highlight three of the four African American sororities that belong to the “Divine Nine” historically Black Greek letter organizations. Photos, documents, and memorabilia will be displayed. Community members Vivian Miller, of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Phyllistine Mosley, of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. have worked diligently on this project in partnership with the Lynchburg Museum System.
The opening reception is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7. The exhibit will remain on display through the month of October.
We hope to see you there!
