Please join the Lynchburg Museum as it begins a year-long exploration of the Cold War and its impact on the Hill City. From the atomic bombs that ended World War II to the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Cold War shaped global history through political tensions, “hot” conflicts in Korea and Vietnam, and the ever-present threat of nuclear destruction. The museum will explore how the struggle between superpowers defined generations and reshaped our world. Discover how international events impacted the citizens of Lynchburg, from civil defense drills to the local industries defending our nation.
“Hot & Cold Wars: Lynchburg at Home and Abroad” is divided into several parts. Please join us throughout the year for more programs and special events related to the Cold War.
